Kim Rakow Bernier
Co-Director & Faculty, Global Leadership Forum
As Co-Director, Kim Rakow Bernier leads operations & finance and community partnerships for the Global Leadership Forum. She also serves as core faculty to develop globally-minded social purpose leaders.
Since 2017, Kim runs her own practice, KRB Consulting + Coaching, as an equity-minded, social purpose facilitator, executive and leadership coach, and consultant with a commitment to co-creating inclusive and just spaces for transformation. She partners with leaders, teams, and organizations to bolster their capacity to align people, purpose and planning for impact. She specializes in vision and strategy, organizational culture and change, and leadership and team development. She brings a strength’s-based, systems-informed approach to her work that centers on building capacity within organizations and the individuals and teams that give them life.
Kim’s early lived experiences and work influenced her interest in cross cultural understanding and racial justice which extends to her current commitment to creating inclusive, equitable, and just spaces and systems. Her early days as a Peace Corps volunteer shaped her still evolving passion and accountability to locally owned, and culturally relevant community development and leadership. She is fluent in Spanish and conversant Solomon Pijin.
Kim has been a nonprofit practitioner her entire career in varied roles including executive director, senior manager, board member, consultant, philanthropist, and volunteer. She is an alumni of the Global Leadership Forum cohort IV, during her tenure as Pangea Giving’s first Executive Director. She served on EarthCorps' board of directors for seven years, including as board Chair and co-chair of the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion committee. She co-developed and is teaching Washington Nonprofits’ strategic planning modules throughout Washington, and nationally through virtual platforms.
Kim and her husband Raphe have two school-aged children in Seattle Public Schools. In her “free” time, Kim can be found enjoying family and friends, making family photo albums, and running (to keep up with her kids!)
